The Namsan Cable Car opened to the public in 1962 after four years of construction. One of its primary purposes was to provide a quick ride to the 262-meter-high summit in the heart of the city. Each cable car has windows on all sides and can accommodate 48 passengers. Join the approximately 50,000 passengers who ride the cable car each month.
It takes about three minutes from Hoehyeon-dong Bus Stop, located at the northern foot of Namsan Mountain, to Yejang-dong Bus Stop. Take a window seat and take stunning photos of Seoul's skyscrapers receding into the distance. Looking down at the lush forest, you might even spot hikers along the trails. Looking north, you'll spot the towering peaks of Bukhansan National Park.
After getting off at Yejang-dong Station, continue walking to the towering N Seoul Tower. The courtyard at the base of the tower houses bars, food stalls, restaurants, and an observation deck. An admission fee is required to access the observation deck at the top, which features a rotating platform. Audio guides are available to help you easily navigate Seoul's major landmarks.
From N Seoul Tower, take the cable car again or walk down Namsan. You can also follow the paths leading to other areas of Namsan Park. Following the southern loop road, you'll come across Namsan Botanical Garden, located to the south.
Take Seoul Subway Line 4 to Myeongdong Station and walk about 10 minutes to reach the Namsan Cable Car. You can also take a taxi directly to the cable car station.
The Namsan Cable Car operates daily and charges a fee. Plan to ascend the mountain by cable car in the late afternoon and descend after sunset. The beautiful nighttime view, filled with lights illuminating the city's skyscrapers, awaits you.
